And I realized, some people will have that opinion of me. And some people will not…
What percentage of people hold that opinion of me, versus what percentage actually see me for who I am?
?% vs %?
Out of how many billion people in the world??
I don’t fucking have time for that! I don’t have time to always be trying to clock how many people must hate me. Jeez.
But that’s the massive calculation that happens in your mind when you’re biased. It’s a percentages game. This is likely why racist people are always so obsessed with stats (which are also laden with bias). This is also likely why bias makes people so damn stupid. It’s like a computer— their brains are overclocking with a calculation that can’t be solved cause most of the variables are unknowable. So they waste their brain energy on a dummy equation.
So I said, fuck it. I won’t close myself off to the world, and the amazing and interesting people who reside in it. I’ll stay open, and I’ll meet the world with my energy. The world will in turn respond with it’s own energy. And when that happens I’ll have to decide what that energy means, and I’ll respond accordingly.
I never realized that’s how I lived my life before, but I did. And after that encounter, I chose that same way of life, but this time with intention.
